Mr Ng Choon Jin

Career Background

Ng Choon Jin started his career in the assurance division of one of the Big Four accounting firms and subsequently moved to handle mergers and acquisitions as a senior analyst in their Corporate Finance division. He then joined a leading financial services MNC as a management associate and rose to manage a division over the next 3 years.

In managing the division, Choon Jin was responsible for the operations of the unit and also its’ profit and loss. Leading this team, he formulated the right financial products for the man-in-the-street and also developed the necessary training materials and sales strategies to meet the sales and profit targets. After this role, he took up a regional business development role for Greater China with a financial services consultancy firm. He covered China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to develop new business for the firm during this time.

Armed with knowledge of both corporate and personal finance, Choon Jin is now the Chief Executive Officer of Providend Centre of Financial Education (PCFE). PCFE seeks to bring empowering financial knowledge to people of all life stages and all walks of life.  It is a joint venture with Providend Limited (Providend), Singapore’s sole fee only independent private wealth management firm. Providend was also the winner of 2008 Promising Brand at the Singapore Prestige Brand Award.

Academic & Professional Background

Ng Choon Jin graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) and is a non-practising Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Singapore. He is also a Fellow with the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and has the relevant qualifications to be a Life and General Insurance Financial Services Consultant.

Speaking Experience

Throughout his career, Choon Jin has trained financial services professionals from banks and insurance companies in areas of sales skills as well as different financial products. He has also spoken at client events in the matters of financial planning and education. These sessions for both professionals and the end customers ranged from small groups to having to address crowds of over 4,000 people as a platform speaker.

Choon Jin’s regional business development role also saw him speaking overseas at conferences and client events regarding direct marketing of insurance and related topics. He is a certified associate with an US brain based profiling tool called Emergenetics and is currently working with them to develop the tool to help someone better understand how they make financial decisions.

Through PCFE, Choon Jin educates staff from ministries and corporations such as Ministry of Home Affairs, CPF Board, OCBC Bank and HDB on financial and retirement planning and has given talks on managing your personal finances for national athletes, various schools and companies. He is also a MoneySense speaker with SIAS (Securities Investors Association (Singapore)) speaking at financial literacy talks run by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. To add to his expertise in the area of financial literacy, Choon Jin is recently qualified as a certified Master Money Coach with Money Coaching Institute, USA, teaching people how to have a better relationship with money and thus making better financial decisions. As Asia’s first team of Master Coaches, he also trains professionals to become a certified Money Coach.

Community Involvement

Choon Jin has always been passionate about community work since his varsity days when he was helming a mentoring program providing free tuition to underprivileged children. He has since served as a counselor and be-friender with MCYS, receiving his 5 year long service commendation in 2005. He was also a councilor with the Central CDC from 2004-2006. Choon Jin is also a member of Junior Chambers International (JCI), a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs and was the 2009 National Vice President for Training. He is currently also running a Financial Counseling program with Social Services Training Institute to train social workers on helping low income families with financial planning.
